The Terrace Primary School Renovation, Alexandra.
We completed the design for a full renovation of a classroom block at the Terrace School in Alexandra.
The design creates an Innovative Learning Environment (ILE) to provide more flexible and comfortable learning spaces for the students.
Additional north facing glazing, with sun shading, has been added to bring more light into the classrooms.
Larger sliding doors have been installed between the classrooms to allow joint classroom activates.
Smaller break out spaces have also been included for small groups.
High level openable windows are used to expel hot air and provide effective natural ventilation. The classrooms are fitted with CO2 sensors, to indicate when the classroom needs fresh air to maintain a comfortable environment for the students.
The colour scheme and weaved carpet pattern visually links the classrooms together.
