Stonefly Lodge, Nelson

The Stonefly Lodge is a hunting and fishing lodge located near Stanley Brook, Nelson.

The lodge has 5 guest bedroom suites, large communal dining and entertaining spaces. The lodge has won awards for it’s environmental and sustainable features.

The lodge is completely off grid with a hydro turbine, wind turbine and PV panels contributing to the battery storage system.

The strong gable forms are complemented by the cedar joinery and stacked river stone base. All of the river stone were sourced on site. The high glazing to the gable ends allows for good solar gain in the winter, warming the slab and stone chimney, while large eaves provide shading in the summer.
