Queenstown (Tāhuna)

The Waimarino lodge will consist of 24 luxury Villa’s, restaurant, owners residence, gin distillery, yoga studio and a sauna.

As you enter this site you see dense kanuka and manuka forming an interwoven wall of dark damp branches with a transition to the green canopy above. This transition between the dark branches and canopy above informs a key part of our design response, with the dark built forms sitting within the shadows of the existing and newly established tree canopy.

The various built forms are small in scale and have been broken up where possible to avoid any large continuous forms. This in combination with the green roofs will intergrate the built form with the existing and proposed landscaping.
